It all started in Roanoke, Virginia...
Earth Equity Advisors was founded as Krull & Company in 2004 by Pete Krull in Roanoke, VA. Since day one, the firm has focused on providing diversified, disciplined socially and environmentally responsible investment opportunities for individuals, trusts, retirement plans, institutions, churches and non-profits.
The firm became a Certified B Corporation in 2014 and in 2016, 2017 and 2018 was selected as a Best for the World B Corporation - a distinction awarded only to the top 10% of all B Corps. B Corporations are businesses that focus on creating stakeholder value, not just shareholder value. Earth Equity Advisors' stakeholders include our clients, employees, community, suppliers and the environment.
We only invest our clients' assets with a social and environmental responsible strategy. In 2015 the firm took a stand to divest client assets from companies involved in fossil fuel extraction, processing or transportation. We believe that this tactic was not only the right thing to do from a values perspective, but also from a risk perspective. Falling fossil fuel prices coupled with peak oil and the possibility of stranded assets underground makes the sector riskier than many will admit. And as activist, Bill McKibben says, why would you want to invest in companies that are "willing to alter the chemical composition of the atmosphere in order to make more money?"
Peter Krull, the firm's Founder, CEO & Director of Investments was selected as a 2018 Investopedia 100 - a ranking of the 100 most influential Financial Advisors in America.
The firm employs seven individuals in a variety of functions from operations to planning to marketing and retirement plan administration. Based in Asheville, NC, the team is active in the communities that we serve.
Our mission is to empower our clients to magnify their impact through responsible investing.
We are Changemakers and we Empower Changemakers
Our association with organizations such as E2: Environmental Entrepreneurs and US SIF offers us the opportunity to engage with business leaders and politicians to push for positive, progressive change. This engagement happens through direct advocacy, shareholder resolutions and visits to Congress.
The annual Earth Equity Speaker Series is a popular Asheville event, bringing a thought leader to town every year to discuss everything from shareholder advocacy strategies to circular economy to responsible outdoor gear.
